What it’s about. Au sortir d'une répétition, Jennifer, danseuse classique à San Francisco, reçoit un appel téléphonique de sa mère qui l'insulte sans raison avant de se tirer une balle dans la tête. Jennifer et Stuart, son petit ami médecin, partent aussitôt pour Sutcliffe, la ville natale de Jennifer. Sa mère y est hospitalisée et soignée par le vieux docteur Carr. Rapidement, Jennifer et Stuart sont intrigués par le comportement bizarre des habitants, émeutes dans la rue, assassinats et vols en tous genres. Trois enfants essayent de brûler vive Jennifer avant que le docteur Carr ne tue sa mère. Toute fuite est impossible car l'unique pont qui relie la ville à l'extérieur a été détruit...
