Il va alors tomber sur son amour de l'époque, qui l'avait brusquement quitté, sans aucune explication. On suit donc Lim Chang-Jung dans ses difficultés à mettre la main sur le jeune prodige du base-ball, ainsi que dans ses tentatives pour comprendre les raisons de cette séparation soudaine, avec en toile de fond les évènements politiques du 18 mai 1980...
