Released in 2008, Wayang is a drame film directed by Hatta Azad Khan, running about 110 minutes. “seorang dalang ternama, sepasang murid istimewa, mendepani pelbagai soalan, menemui bermacam jawapan..” — that tagline sets the tone.
What it’s about. Master puppeteer, Awang Lah, becomes a uneasy teacher to Awi, a blind, orphaned boy, and Melor, a girl with a nasal problem. Though blind, Awi is adept at memorizing wayang kulit stories. Melor, too, shows great skill in creating the puppets and manipulating them on the screen as Awi recites the stories.
Who’s in it. Wayang stars Eman Manan as Awang Lah, Zul Huzaimy as Awi, Ida Nerina as Mak Cik Esah and Anuar Idris as Pak Mail, among others.
