What it’s about. Max de Mirecourt, un célèbre écrivain en mal d’inspiration, part se ressourcer en Tunisie flanqué de son « nègre » et ami Coton. Là-bas, il rencontre la belle Aouïna, une pétillante indigène. La jeune femme le fascine au point qu’il décide d’en faire le personnage principal de son prochain roman. Après lui avoir inculqué les « bonnes manières », Mirecourt ramène la jeune fille à Paris, la faisant passer pour une princesse indienne.
