What it’s about. En 1914, pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, la riche châtelaine de Boissière, au passé sulfureux, accueille Jean le Barois, un jeune soldat perdu en territoire occupé par les Allemands, qui n'est autre que le fils de l'homme qu'elle aimait, puis ruiné. Le jeune homme, après l'avoir méprisée, tombe éperdument amoureux de la femme qui a poussé son père au suicide.
