What it’s about. Nicole, sémillante avocate, doit défendre pour ses débuts au prétoire l'accusé Panoyau. C'est un échec: la condamnation à mort. Furieuse, Nicole proclame à Claude, son fiancé, que le mariage n'aura pas lieu tant que Panoyau sera menacé. Claude, ingénieux, parvient à subtiliser la guillotine - la veuve - et part en voyage de noces avec l'encombrante machine. Le jeune couple doit fuir la police, mais leur course en zigzag leur permet de découvrir l'assassin et ainsi de réhabiliter Panoyau.
