What it’s about. Daijuuji Kuro est un détective pauvre qui vit dans la cité d'Arkham. Un jour, il est engagé par Ruri Hado du Groupe Financier Hado pour retrouver un livre magique. Kuro refuse au départ, mais Ruri lui promettant une importante somme d'argent, il finit par accepter. Alors qu'il est à la recherche du livre, il fait la rencontre inattendu de Al, une jolie jeune fille qui est en réalité un puissant grimoire. En scellant un pacte entre eux, Kuro reçoit une partie de la magie de Al. Peu de temps après, Al active le Demonbane, une machine de combat du Groupe Financier Hado, pour lutter contre la menace de la Black Lodge. Ainsi commence la guerre entre les deux.
