Pappy veut frapper le petit, mais Popeye le persuade d’essayer la psychologie à la place. Popeye raconte comment "George Washlincoln" a abattu le cerisier. Inspiré, Mimosa coupe un trou dans le sol, puis dit la vérité. Popeye se précipite pour lui acheter une récompense, laissant Pappy en charge, mais Pappy croit à un style de parentage plutôt dangereux, le présentant à William Tell (des deux côtés du pistolet). Pappy a menti à Popeye.
