What it’s about. Cunda vit profondément dans la brésilienne forêt tropicale et a l' intention de faire assez d' argent pour qu'il puisse épouser une veuve dans son village. Cependant, ses échanges - la capture des serpents pour les scientifiques - paie très peu d' argent, et il est en concurrence directe avec d' autres prétendants. Un jour, Cunda est mordu par un serpent , et il rampe à la rivière pour récupérer. Tout en passant par la reprise déchirante, il a une hallucination de quatre chimpanzés assis dans la rivière. Récupéré, il rentre chez lui et trouve les quatre chimpanzés en attente pour lui, et ses efforts pour les chasser sûr. Sachant que les chimpanzés ne sont pas indigènes au Brésil , il décide qu'ils sont une sorte de don surnaturel pour lui. Croire cela, il décide de les emmener à "la ville" pour les vendre.
