What it’s about. Dans un futur proche, l’humanité a réussi à dompter la technologie et bénéficie de tout le confort moderne. Mais un dernier enjeu pèse sur la société : le vieillissement de la population. Pour résoudre ce fléau grandissant, la médecine est remplacée par la robotique avec la création d’une machine nommée le « Z-001 », capable de prodiguer tous les soins nécessaires aux personnes âgées. Kijûrô Takazawa est le premier cobaye contraint à tester ce robot, bien que ce dernier aurait souhaité rester avec son ancienne infirmière, la jeune Haruko. L’expérimentation tourne mal et le Z-001 se transforme en arme de destruction massive.
