Mais une étrange pénurie de poissons touche La Barra et la plupart des hommes sont partis pêcher en haute mer; il n’y a pas une seule embarcation de disponible. Errant immobile, le nouvel arrivant prend son mal en patience et se mêle peu à peu aux habitants. Il assiste à la lutte de ce village qui tente de survivre à l'avènement de la modernité...
