What it’s about. Dans une petite ville de province, entre Toulouse et Paris, un autorail entre en gare, quai n° 1, voie A alors que l'horloge marque minuit. Plusieurs voyageurs en descendent et se rendent dans la salle d'attente pour attendre leur correspondance. Parmi eux, il y a Panzani, accompagné de deux gendarmes, du commissaire Carbone et de l'inspecteur Maillard. Le gangster, arrêté récemment est suspecté d'avoir cambriolé une bijouterie, mais il possède un alibi irréfutable. Carbone et Maillard espèrent bien qu'il va chercher à s'enfuir au cours du voyage vers Paris où ils le conduisent sous prétexte d'une confrontation. Le piège fonctionne et permet aux policiers d'arrêter aussi un complice et deux escrocs.
