What it’s about. Pour échapper à l’Europe de l’après-guerre, l’architecte visionnaire László Tóth émigre aux États-Unis. Il veut y reconstruire sa vie, son travail et son mariage avec sa femme Erzsébet, dont il a été séparé pendant la guerre par suite des modifications de frontières et de régimes. Seul dans ce nouveau pays, László s’installe en Pennsylvanie, où le riche industriel Harrison Lee Van Buren remarque son talent pour la construction. Mais le pouvoir et l’héritage se paient au prix fort…
