What it’s about. Armando, ancien syndicaliste portuaire, a perdu sa jambe gauche après avoir été torturé lors du coup d'État du général Pinochet. Il vit avec sa nièce près du port de Valparaiso. Reclus et triste, il doit faire face au quotidien à l'imposant voilier La Esmeralda, qui servit de base à toutes les atrocités du régime. Mais aujourd'hui, Armando amorce un nouveau départ.
