What it’s about. Dans une chambre d'hôtel bon marché à New York, Jelke tire sur le gangster Joe Wells, prend un paquet de sa poche et s'enfuit. Wells titube dans une ruelle. Sur le chemin de son appartement au-dessus d'un musée de cire, Sue Gallagher, journaliste pour le Chronicle, trouve le corps de Wells et cache son cadavre parmi les figures de cire du musée et appelle son journal pour envoyer un photographe afin qu'elle puisse obtenir un scoop sur le meurtre de Wells, qui avait une récompense de 5 000 $ pour sa capture, mort ou vivant. Pendant ce temps, Henry Miggs, le propriétaire du musée trouve le corps et est prêt à appeler la police mais son bricoleur, Clutch Tracy lui dit de le cacher et d'éviter les soupçons.
