What it’s about. Dans cette comédie d'horreur du temps des fêtes, Bill emmène sa femme américaine Carol et ses enfants Nora et Lucas en Norvège pour prendre possession d'une propriété familiale dont il vient d'hériter. Tandis que Bill rêve de transformer la grange délabrée en gîte rural, sa famille s'adapte difficilement à la vie scandinave. Lucas tombe sur un lutin méchant, sorti des légendes anciennes, qui vit dans la grange et a établi une série de mesures auxquelles la famille doit se soumettre. Lorsque Bill ignore les avertissements de Lucas et fait fi des traditions sacrées du temps des fêtes, le lutin projette de se débarrasser des intrus américains à tout prix.
