Quand le président sud-américain Novalès doit dîner à Paris, c'est chez Septime qui s'emploie à satisfaire cet hôte de marque. Mais au moment où M. Septime s'apprête à servir le dessert « La Pyramide à la Septime », un incident se produit faisant disparaître l'homme d'État. Pour la police, le commissaire divisionnaire en charge de l'enquête, Septime est le principal suspect. Mais très vite d'autres personnes se manifestent et Septime se retrouve pris en étau entre la police et les nombreux malfaiteurs que les autorités veulent arrêter en utilisant Septime comme appât...
