What it’s about. Situé dans la ville de Beiping pendant les 22 jours précédant la fondation de la République populaire de Chine en 1949, ce film raconte les changements radicaux dans la vie de trois frères, Jin Hai, Tie Lin et Xu Tian, ainsi qu'une romance entre Xu Tian et Tian Dan. En enquêtant sur le meurtre qui a coûté la vie à sa fiancée, le policier Xu Tian se lance sur une piste qui le conduira finalement à participer à la libération de Beiping. Jin Hai, Tie Lin et Xu Tian sont trois amis aussi proches que des frères. Confrontés à des changements historiques et à des croyances contradictoires, ils font des choix qui les mènent sur des chemins divergents. Xu Tian et Tian Dan, membre du parti communiste, se rencontrent dans leurs moments les plus difficiles et trouvent un objectif commun qui les rapproche.
