Furieux, il finit par rattraper les voleurs : un groupe de six orphelins. Voulant dénoncer les enfants à la police, Brewster apprend que le shérif local trempe dans la combine. Il prélève en effet une grande partie de leur butin et empêche en échange qu'ils soient envoyés en orphelinat. Oubliant leur arrangement avec le shérif, ils quittent la ville avec Brewster.
