What it’s about. L'histoire débute dans un jeu qui se nomme Yggdrasil. Tout se passe bien jusqu'à l'annonce de la fin de ce dernier. Nous suivons alors les aventures du personnage appelé Momonga qui est le mage le plus puissant dans ce jeu. Lors de la désactivation de Yggdrasil, l'apparence de notre héros se décompose pour devenir un squelette. Mais son personnage ne fut pas déconnecté, et suite à cela, il décide de ne pas quitter le jeu mais de le gouverner.
