What it’s about. A Singapour, la CIA demande à l'agence Cheng de mener des investigations sur la mort d'un marin américain. Le cabinet sollicite alors une faveur de Sam Callaghan, un enquêteur privé, pour lui donner un coup de main sur ce dossier délicat. En parallèle, Sam essaye de préserver la vie d'un homme innocent. Pour y arriver, il doit se replonger dans les méandres d'une affaire sombre : le meurtre d'un ami d'enfance, accusé à tort d'avoir volé de la nourriture. Ces deux hommes ont été retenus prisonniers, en même temps, dans le centre pénitentiaire de Changi, au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Sam espère obtenir rapidement des informations pour faire avancer cette enquête...
