Un jour, Sakuma, le waka gashira d'un petit et faible gang yakuza d'Asakusa - le Medaka Gumi - rend visite à Izumi en compagnie de ses membres. La mort de leur ancien kumicho (Patron) met le Medaka Gumi au bord de la rupture. Sakuma supplie donc Izumi, le seul parent éloigné de l'ancien patron, de lui succéder au poste de kumicho. Izumi est pris par surprise et commence par refuser au début. Cependant, elle finit par devenir le 8ème kumicho du Medaka Gumi !
