Tsutsumi Shinichi est un brillant universitaire (lauréat du prix Fields - équivalent du prix Nobel de mathématiques) qui a abandonné ses études pour reprendre la poissonnerie de son père décédé. Ils se rencontrent par le biais d'un « gokon » (rendez-vous de groupe) d'un médecin et elle tombe amoureuse de lui en pensant à tort qu'il est un homme très riche.
