Toshihiko Tanaka est un garçon qui est entré au lycée de Kakegawa avec ses amis Kenji et Kazuhiro, afin de jouer au football avec Yoshiharu Kubo, un grand joueur de football qu'ils ont idolâtré. Alors que ses deux autres amis étaient réticents à rejouer, "Toshi" les convainc finalement de jouer pour l'équipe. L'équipe se retrouve bientôt au milieu d'une quête pour le championnat All-Japan High School, tout en surmontant les obstacles en cours de route.
