What it’s about. Alors qu’il est en train de peindre une montagne, Ichirô fait la connaissance de la célèbre chanteuse Miyako Saijo. Ils se lient d’amitié et discutent un moment sur le balcon de la chambre de Miyako. C’est le moment que choisissent deux paparazzis filant la chanteuse pour prendre un cliché et faire aussitôt la une de la presse à scandale en brodant sur une relation amoureuse qui n’a jamais eût lieu. Ichirô décide de porter plainte et engage l’avocat Otokichi Hiruta, non pas pour ses talents au barreau mais afin de revoir la fille de ce dernier, tuberculeuse, dont il s’est pris d’affection…
