What it’s about. Allemagne de l’Est, 1952. La jeune ouvrière Anna Kaminski, fiancée d'un soldat tombé à la guerre, est séparée de son jeune fils par le rideau de fer. Alors qu’elle vit et travaille en Thuringe, le garçon est élevé par ses grands-parents en Bavière, à seulement quelques kilomètres de là. Souhaitant à tout prix le retrouver, elle rejoint un groupe de fugitifs et franchit clandestinement la frontière. Mais, blessée par des tirs, elle est découverte par Carl Altmann, un jeune agent de la police des frontières. Sous le charme, ce dernier décide d’aider Anna dans son entreprise.
