Intrigué que celui-ci ne porte aucune immatriculation, le jeune reporter s’approche afin de proposer son aide, mais reçoit pour seule réponse une balle. Légèrement blessé, il reçoit la visite à l’hôpital des Dupondt qui lui apprennent qu’un avion de tourisme non immatriculé s’est écrasé dans le Sussex. Il n’en faut pas plus pour faire sortir Tintin de son lit et mener l’enquête en Angleterre…
