What it’s about. Trois hommes aiment doña Sol : don Ruy Gomez de Silva, vieil oncle qui bientôt doit l’épouser, Hernani, chef d’une troupe de bandits qui menace le pouvoir royal, et don Carlos lui -même, roi des Castilles. C’est pourtant au « chef des bohémiens » que doña Sol a ouvert son âme et offert son cœur. Mais derrière Hernani se cache Jean d’Aragon, grand -maître d’Avis, duc de Segorbe et duc de Cardona, Marquis de Monroy, Comte Albatera, vicomte de Gor… Ce grand d’Espagne, vivant en proscrit depuis des années dans les montagnes, veut rétablir l’honneur de son nom en vengeant son noble père, condamné par le père de don Carlos à l’échafaud. De son côté également, don Ruy Gomez complote contre le jeune roi, futur empereur Charles -Quint…
