Dès son arrivée, Karen qui souhaite vendre le ranch se retrouve face à Hugh qui dirige l'exploitation depuis des années et prétend en détenir une partie. Situation d'autant plus embarrassante que Karen et Hugh furent fiancés avant que celle-ci ne s'en aille pour vivre sa carrière d'écrivaine.
