What it’s about. Un des généraux de l'empereur Qin (Zhang Yimou) tombe amoureux d'une concubine (Gong Li). Lorsque cet amour est découvert, les amants n'ont d'autre choix que se donner la mort. Mais avant de mourir, la concubine parvient à remettre à son amant une perle d'immortalité destinée à l'empereur.
