Rintaro, pseudonyme de Shigeyuki Hayashi, est un réalisateur d'anime très connu. Il collabore régulièrement avec le studio d'animation Madhouse (dont il est l'un des cofondateurs), bien qu'il soit réalisateur indépendant et ne soit employé directement par aucun studio en particulier. Il est membre fondateur du groupe de défense des droits des travailleurs de l'Association japonaise des créateurs d'animation (JAniCA).
