The historical drama The Summer Evening Waltz (1951) takes place in Finland at the turn of the 20th century. The film, built around the music of Oskar Merikanto, tells the love story of the poor musician Lauri Alanko (Leif Wager) and the daughter of the rich Grahn family, Annina (Eeva-Kaarina Volanen).
