The laser specialist Klöpfer pushes his project, the research of a new artificial fertilizer synthesis, furious because the researchers of the Palais initially don´t want to finance an expensive test facility, but later the budget is approved. The chemist Polazzo proves that the experiments can trigger an apocalyptic chain reaction, but Klöpfer ignores this. Instead, he has an even more expensive test facility financed and flees with his research results via Hong Kong to Alaska.
