Black Death (2010): cast, story & where to watch

Released in 2010, Black Death is an action, drama, horror and mystery film directed by Christopher Smith, running about 102 minutes. “In an age of darkness one man will face the ultimate battle against evil.” — that tagline sets the tone.

What it’s about. As the plague decimates medieval Europe, rumours circulate of a village immune from the plague. There is talk of a necromancer who leads the village and is able to raise the dead. A fearsome knight joined by a cohort of soldiers and a young monk are charged by the church to investigate. Their journey is filled with danger, but it's upon entering the village that their true horror begins.

Who’s in it. Black Death stars Sean Bean as Ulric, Eddie Redmayne as Osmund, Carice van Houten as Langiva and Kimberley Nixon as Averill, among others.

How it landed. With an audience score of 6.0/10, Black Death has drawn a solid, mixed-to-positive response. It went on to earn $382.9K at the box office.
