What it’s about. Im 16. Jahrhundert läuft General Otello mit seinem Schiff im Hafen von Famagusta auf Zypern ein, nachdem er die türkische Flotte im Mittelmeer besiegt und die venezianische Herrschaft über Zypern gesichert hat; doch Eifersucht, Intrigen und Rache führen zur Tragödie. „Otello“ ist eine Oper in vier Akten von Giuseppe Verdi nach einem Libretto von Arrigo Boito, das auf William Shakespeares „Othello oder der Mohr von Venedig“ basiert und am 5. Februar 1887 an der Mailänder Scala uraufgeführt wurde. Aus der Box mit 27 Opern von Verdi „Tutto Verdi“. Live aufgenommen bei den Salzburger Festspielen vom 5. bis 10. August 2008.
