What it’s about. En el siglo XVI, en Chipre, en el puerto de Famagusta, el general Otello llega con su barco tras haber derrotado a la armada turca en el Mediterráneo y haber afianzado la autoridad veneciana sobre Chipre, pero los celos, la conspiración y la venganza conducen a la tragedia. «Otello» es una ópera en cuatro actos de Giuseppe Verdi, con libreto de Arrigo Boito basado en «Otelo o el moro de Venecia» de William Shakespeare, estrenada el 5 de febrero de 1887 en el Teatro alla Scala de Milán. Pertenece a la colección de 27 óperas de Verdi «Tutto Verdi». Grabado en directo en el Festival de Salzburgo, del 5 al 10 de agosto de 2008.
